IN DEVELOPMENT.

As consumers there comes a point where we question our unconscious devotion to the fashion industry; is functionality still central to our purchases or are we blatantly indoctrinated by the desire to attain CONSPICUOUS LABELING and the latest trends?

Project II stood as an experimentation for me in relation to transformable clothing. Whilst I touched on it in Project I, Project II was where I push my pattern making boundaries and tested my mathematical skills; it was a turning point in my design career and has shaped my outlook for future projects.

In a materialistic society, products are starting to blatantly ignore functionality and focus on aesthetics; this is a trend of NEGLIGENCE of which I refuse to conform to. Taking my pervious research on world war troops and soldiers on the front line, I questioned how could I implement this into current society; what social issues could this generate a Solution for? Thus, this stands as my future direction for Ella made, creating Transformable, multifunctional apparel that goes beyond aesthetics and aims to stand as a viable solution to impending social issues.

Key to my designs is my experimentation with pattern making. In this stage I focus on measurements and cunning calculations as opposed to draping or approximation. For me, its about unpacking a design into a viable blueprint, with precision and accuracy. Whilst the toiling stage is an epitome of trail and error, each attempt is the result of a reputable and well executed pattern.
